One of the main issues facing not only SSL, but all municipalities, is water. While many of us think it’s an infinite resource, we are learning that is not. While 71% of the earth is covered by water, 97% of that is salt water found in oceans. 3% of that is freshwater. 3%!! A good portion of that 3% ends up going to watering lawns. While it’s hard to believe, we live in a desert. Even with population increasing everywhere along the Wasatch Front, we are finding it hard to keep up with the demand for water. I truly believe that South Salt Lake can take the lead into conserving water. By researching options of how to grow vegetation that is most likely to grow in our region. We can also hope that we can find ways of still have those lawns, that require less valuable water.
